For many years it has been SONNE-International’s explicit aim to facilitate the access to education and training for destitute children.

Who are the sponsored children?

Children in Bangladesh who have already attended one of SONNE-International’s village schools shall now be given the chance to realize their dream of receiving further education. What unites these boys and girls (aged between 10 and 16) is their motivation, their diligence and their desire for knowledge, but alas also their financial misery, which makes it practically impossible for them to attend any form of higher education without external support.

Where do these children live?

The children’s home is the hilly and inhospitable region of the Chittagong Hill Tracts in Bangladesh at the border to Myanmar. They are members of several Tibeto-Burmese minorities, who have a different cultural and linguistic identity from the Bengali majority in Bangladesh. Discrimination and conflicts have forced them to withdraw more and more into the back country. They have practically no chance to lead a life worth living as these remote areas lack schools and training institutions, but also health care facilities and income-generating opportunities.

How much does it cost to sponsor a child?

The costs per child amount to approximately 60 € per month. You can participate in the fulfilment of a child’s dream with a monthly contribution of 30 € (part sponsorship) respectively 60 € (full sponsorship). With this amount the children can be accommodated in a student hostel where they are properly fed and looked after. Thus the children are given access to further education and their chances for a better future are greatly improved.

We guarantee that the money raised from these sponsorships will be used directly for the project and the fostered children. Moreover, you will be informed regularly about the progress made by your protégé. We also try to establish direct contact between sponsors and sponsored children, either by mail, email or by participating in a project visiting trip to Bangladesh.
